At Affirming Access, we are proud to champion inclusivity and empowerment for young autistic and neurodivergent individuals in the LGBTIQA+SB community. This initiative, led by Berinda Karp from Autism STEP Australia and Brendan Chippendale from Achieve Collective, is funded by the Australian Government's NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
Our mission is simple yet vital: to ensure that every young neurodivergent person, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation, understands their rights under the NDIS and feels equipped to advocate for themselves in a supportive and affirming environment.
Through Affirming Access, we are building a bridge between the neurodivergent and LGBTIQA+SB communities and the NDIS, fostering a space where diversity is celebrated and barriers are broken down.

Interactive Workshops
We host engaging workshops for young people in Western Sydney and Sydney’s Inner West, designed to build skills in self-advocacy and empowerment. Participants gain the confidence to navigate the NDIS and advocate for their needs using fun and practical activities like role-playing and real-life scenario practice.
Inclusive Training for NDIS Workers
We provide training for NDIS workers to promote inclusive and respectful practices. This training equips workers to embrace neurodivergence and gender/sexual diversity, ensuring their services meet the unique needs of autistic LGBTIQA+SB individuals.
Accessible Resources
Our collection of resources includes videos, guides, and tools designed to simplify the NDIS for both participants and workers. These resources are created to break down complex processes, making the NDIS more approachable and understandable for everyone.
