Your Rights: Accommodations & the NDIS

Under the Disability Discrimination Act (1992) and NDIS guidelines, you have the right to:

Request reasonable accommodations that support your autistic and LGBTIQA+ needs. Receive services in an inclusive, non-discriminatory environment. Access supports that are affirming, respectful, and person-centred

Expect NDIS providers to recognise and support your identity

If You Face Barriers or Discrimination

• Self-advocate: Clearly express what you need

• Seek help from an advocate (e.g., disability or LGBTIQA+ rights groups)

• Report discrimination through the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission

NDIS Support Options:

• Support coordinators who understand autistic and LGBTIQA+ experiences

• Assistance from disability advocacy groups

• A change of provider if someone is not affirming or respectful

Remember:

Accommodations are your right—not a privilege

Even small adjustments can make a huge difference

It’s okay to ask for what you need—you deserve to feel safe, comfortable, and included

If you need help requesting accommodations through the NDIS, an advocate, support coordinator, or trusted person can assist you. You are not alone—there are supports available to help you thrive.
